Help and Hope – Ivanka’s Story

My name is Ivanka. I am 16 years old and pregnant with my second baby. Unfortunately, I am not married, but I have a boyfriend who is 21 years old.  He is the father of both of my children. I am studying to become a cook-confectioner. Because of the war, it is very difficult to find a job to provide for our family. But we are trying … because we want what is best for our children. It is certainly not easy for us, but thanks to the help from Mission to Ukraine, we can be sure that our children will have food, medicines, and even clothes. This is a very strong support. We have never met such...

Sponsor a Mom: Valeria’s Story

Valeria’s only 15 years old. Just finished the 9th grade. Andrii is 17 and doesn’t have a job. Not ready to become parents by any stretch of the imagination. On top of all that, there’s a war going on in Ukraine. They’re scared, of course. Abortion seems the only way out. One morning Valeria was having breakfast while sitting next to her 8-month-old sister. She saw her small fingers, her beautiful eyes… and started thinking about what her baby might look like. Just then something “clicked.” “There’s a real life inside of me,” she thought. She made the decision that she was going to continue...

Russian War with Ukraine – MTU Assisting with Evacuations

This morning a missile wiped out one of Zhytomyr’s schools downtown just a few minutes away from our MTU building. Russian terrorists took over the city of Enegrodar which has a nuclear power station with 6 nuclear reactors (to compare: you know the consequences of an explosion of 1 nuclear reactor in Chernobyl). They broke through the city defense yesterday, headed straight to the station, and started shelling it. The city and the stations are under their control now. Alarming news is coming through about Russian vacuum bombs being moved close to the border. We are encouraging all women...

Russian Invasion of Ukraine Update – The Lord’s Favor.

The Lord is giving us favor in the eyes of most democratic countries in the world and we are delighted to see that. All major cities of Ukraine are still under the control of our army. The enemy did not make much progress yesterday and is furious. Putin started using the most atrocious strategies: bombing civilian building and ruining infrastructure, killing civilians, and putting buses with women and children in front of their tanks. There is a concern about radiation level at Chernobyl with Putin preparing chemical – and even nuclear attacks. Zhitomir was attacked again yesterday. One...

MTU Father Starts Rehab Foundation

Paul* is an incredible father to Yulia, a 9 year old girl with special needs. He is also a designer, book illustrator, interpreter, poet, and a co-founder of a charitable foundation. As a result of the generosity of MTU’s supporters, Paul started to dream big. I asked Paul to share his story. He asked me to keep it confidential. I hope, this interview will inspire you.    Tanya: Your love for your daughter goes beyond anything I have heard of. You are the one who protected her even while she was in the womb. Tell me more about it. Paul: I was about to move to Warsaw for a well-paid...

Together We Keep Children Out of Orphanages

By Luda Chaikovska, MTU nurse Ukrainian women have to be strong. It’s in the culture. Even though many might be depressed and drained, they will smile and say they are OK anyways. They manage to get by. Mothers and grandmothers of children with disabilities who come to us for help come weary and broken hearted. Their eyes show pain deep down in their hearts.  Every day I pray for the Lord to give me an opportunity to be a witness of His great love to our mothers. I have those divine opportunities when they bring their children in for medical treatment.    Last...
