Russian Invasion Update from Mission to Ukraine

Below you’ll find an update from our Director, Ira Venglovska about the current state of mind of MTU staff and the people we serve.

————
Dear friends,

God gave us a quiet night in Zhitomir (2-24-22); there was no bombing in the city. Many people went to bed fully dressed up in case we needed to jump in the middle of the night. We praise God for that, although many still had a sleepless night.

Today is predicted to be a very difficult day for the whole country. Our intelligence is telling us that Kiev, Kharkiv and Mariupol are the main targets and Russians will try to take over them. In order to divert our army, they will also intensify fights all over the border. Kiev was bombed last night and today Russian tanks are in Kiev. There are fierce fights for Kharkiv and Mariupol. Civil buildings are being shot at now.

At Mission to Ukraine we are able to meet online and communicate with clients. Our staff is alarmed but prayerful. We are very hurt over the loss of 140 Ukrainian soldiers yesterday. One of the children with disabilities whom we serve lost his dad yesterday in the bombing. Pray for this child and his mother!

Our clients are all in a different place – some panic to the point that our counselors make home visits to pray with them and comfort them. Some are completely trusting God and are inviting us to come hide with them in a village if we need to do so. The Lord is working on the hearts of non-believers and has their attention.

Please continue pray for the Lord to accomplish His purposes and bring peace to our land, to be the shield to send His angels to protect our army and our people.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer and support.
