Joy in the Storm: Halyna’s Story

Mission to Ukraine provided hope to Halyna and her husband when found themselves in a very challenging situation due to the war when she became pregnant with their fourth child. With Ukraine at war – and her husband now facing unstable employment – life was exceedingly tough. It was then that her gynecologist recommended reaching out to Mission to Ukraine, where she was assured of comprehensive support; both practically and spiritually.
Though not accustomed to asking for help, they had no other choice. Their financial struggles were compounded by the high cost of utilities, particularly during winter. They don’t own a home; instead, they rent a portion of a house. They are constantly awakened at night by the cries of their children when the air raid sirens go off. Life is far from easy.
Yet Halyna recently told us that despite the storms they are facing, they have joy. Joy that came to them at the birth of their fourth child, a ray of hope during very dark times. And joy from feeling the warmth of generosity and the profound demonstration of God’s love – all thanks to Mission in Ukraine.
Mission to Ukraine provided their desperately needed essentials such as groceries, diapers, medicine, and even crucial furniture (wardrobe, bed, playpen). Most importantly, they knew that we prayed for them, and that those prayers held immense power.
By helping 600 – 1000 women per year, we may not be able to fully stem the tide of a declining population. But we’ll continue to help Halyna … and as many others as we possibly can – but we can only do so with your help.
Will you join us in providing a hand of hope to Halyna and so many others like her? Your gift can make such a practical – and eternal – impact on the lives of so many.
